Well after this week I’m not convinced any team deserves to be ranked #1. I am not one of those people that is going to rank a team higher just because they beat up on some cupcakes. I put these rankings together based on who I think are the best teams at the time of rankings. At the beginning of the year I thought there were 10-15 good teams and then 40 teams that are all about average and the same. The results so far this season show that to be the case. The bottom of the the rankings are like pulling teeth to see who’s worth of actually being ranked. With that said here are the results.

1. Connecticut – They beat up on a pretty good Harvard team. With Ryan Boatright in the lineup this team has looked unstoppable.
2. Kentucky – The loss to Indiana wasn’t a terrible one. Whats more concerning is what happened with Terrance Jones. If he doesnt play well this teams in trouble.
3. North Carolina – Same argument as last week. Who do you really think is better on a neutral floor?
4. Ohio State – The loss was a little worse than expected even with Sullinger out.
5. Syracuse – Didn’t look great against Marshall and will continue to be an unknown for weeks.
6. Baylor – Didn’t play this week. Another team a few weeks from really being tested.
7. Duke – Decent win over Washington but nothing to write home about.
8. Xavier – Lost the fight won the war. What an ugly finish and press conference to what would’ve been an otherwise impressive performance.
9.Marquette – Hit a big shot to beat the snake bitten Washington team.
10. Kansas – Good win over a short handed Ohio State team. No doubt in my mind this team would beat Louisville on a neutral floor.
11. Louisville – Maybe I’m too low on them but I just haven’t seen anything to convince me otherwise.
12. Missouri – Nice win over Villanova. Jury is still out.
13. Florida – Got a little lucky to pull out the game vs Arizona but still got the job done. Play in one of the only good games this week against Texas A&M
14. Georgetown – Shot horrible against Howard which is a concern.
15. Mississippi State – Beat up on Troy in a game that good Dee Bost showed up.
16. Indiana – Made me look good for ranking them last week. Great win that could propel this young team. Unfortunately I only saw the last 10 minutes of the game which left me underimpressed, but they get credit for a huge win.
17. Wisconsin – Nice win over UNLV to get them back on track.
18. Pittsburgh – Beat a decent Oklahoma State team on the road.
19. Michigan State – Really nice win on the road at Gonzaga. That Dec. 28 matchup to start the Big 10 season is looking much bigger now.
20. Vanderbilt – Festus Ezeli is back and that means they should be much better.
21. Texas A&M – Good matchup with Florida this week will be a contrast in styles.
22. Illinois – The lack of a bench will prove to be costly over time but they are here for now.
23. Murray State – The past two wins over Dayton and Memphis are good enough to push the undefeated Racers into the top 25.
24. Harvard – The loss to U Conn was bigger than expected but none of the teams this low would have done any better.
25. Purdue – Have a couple of solid wins and no bad loses which is more than most teams can say at this point.
