Welcome back to the greatest high school football pick’em column in the world! Week 1 was a great 1 for a few of the experts particularly Jamie from PrepNation as he went 11 – 3 to open up an early 2 game lead on the field. The top 2 experts form last year are once again 1st and 2nd this year but there are a lot of games left.

Week 2 is highlighted by a huge out of state showdown and a bunch of big in-state games including a couple of the best rivalries in the country. The game of the week will go down at Rutgers between St. John’s College and St. Joe’s Prep. We said it when it was scheduled but this was genius by Rutgers to host this game. Not too many big time athletes would choose to take a visit there but this forces them too. The experts are all going with SJC except Jamie. There is another matchup of Top 25 teams when IMG and Miami Northwestern meet. The experts are all going with IMG in this one which as we say isn’t always a sure thing. Also in Florida is a Miami showdown between Central and Carol City. These 2 split games last year but Carol City will be looking for revenge of their playoff loss.

There are 2 big games in Ohio this week. The battle for Cincinnati bragging rights will be on the line when St. Xavier travels to Colerain. The Cardinals have won the last 3 but last year was a 14-12 slobberknocker and we don’t expect this to be any different. The experts are split 4-3 giving the slight nod to St. Xavier. Up in Mentor St. Ignatius is coming to town to try and take down the Cardinals who are fresh off a big win over St. Edwards. They can’t afford a let down versus a very good Iggy team this year. 

Elsewhere around the country there is a big game in San Diego where Centennial and Cathedral Catholic are battling to maybe see who the 3rd best team in California is this year. The suspected 2 best teams in Louisiana are meeting up in a classic public versus private game between Edna Karr and John Curtis. The Patriots have one the previous meetings and will be looking to do so again. In Texas Guyer will be looking to get it’s 2nd revenge game win in a row when they take on Cedar Hill after winning a shootout over Aledo last week. There is a battle of Top 10 teams in Georgia between Parkview and Lowndes. Finally there is good out of state matchup going down in Charlotte between Archbishop Rummell from Louisiana and the home team Catholic. The Cougars will be looking to avenge their nail biter 7 – 0 loss last week to a very good Good Counsel team.
