Prep Force 2018 National High School Football Rankings – Week 10

Week 9 is in the books and the biggest take away is that Mater Dei is still one of the best teams in the country. The Monarchs made easy work of JSerra. The Lions ran into a buzzsaw and in what was really bad schedule luck for them. We have no doubt that Mater Dei wins that game most days, but not as handedly as they did thanks to coming off an embarrassing loss. We didn’t drop Mater Dei below #3 last week as we had a feeling this was coming. This win keeps the Monarchs in the national title hunt.

Another game that caused a shakeup in the rankings this week was Dematha easily beating previously ranked Good Counsel. We had Dematha ranked in our preseason poll after talking to some people that thought they would be pretty good. After the bad loss to St. Thomas Aquinas we dropped the Stags form the rankings. After the 32-2 victory they jump back in the polls at #20. The WCAC is not a foregone conclusion with #2 St. John’s heading to Dematha this week to see who brings home the regular season title. Mission Viejo lost this week which allowed Colerain to enter the rankings. We had been reluctant to rank the Cardinals because there schedule has been pretty weak. They easily beat a solid Faifield this week so into the rankings they go. We still think Ohio Division I is wide open.

In addition to the WCAC battle we have one of the best games of the year this week down in Miami. Our top 2 public schools face off when #4 Miami Central and #5 Carol City meet at Traz Powell Stadium. These two teams have met many times but this may be their biggest matchup ever. Check out who the experts pick in that games plus the other Top 10 games of the week in the Pickem Contest later this week.
