J.D. Hinnant is a 6’3″, 267 pound offensive tackle out of Fountain Valley, California.  He recently was a part of a car accident in which he was severely injured. While he is missing time, it is only a speed bump in Hinnant’s football career.  The recovery process continues, but the speculation over J.D.’s college destination does not.  He has verbally committed to Cal and new Head Coach Sonny Dykes.

We started with some more football-related questions…

Prep Force: How is the recovery process (from the car crash) going and how will it affect you in the long run?

J.D. Hinnant: It’s going really well, and I’m “getting stronger every day”.  Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy are helping him along.  In the end the experience helped and will make me keep a better appreciation for life, and I will have an even better work ethic as a result.

PF: How did new Head Coach Sonny Dykes play in to your decision?

JH: It didn’t play in a lot.  I liked Tedford, and Cal was always one of his top choices.  I like Sonny as well, though.

PF: What were the top 3 reasons you chose Cal?

JH: 1. Education

2. Location

3. Cal’s new offense

Then, we went Beyond the Game

JH: Mila Kunis.

PF: Who is your favorite professional athlete?

JH: It was Vladimir Guerrero, now its Mike Trout.

PF: Who is your all-time favorite Cal player?

JH: Marshawn Lynch.

PF: What is your favorite post-game meal?

JH: A big, juicy porterhouse steak.

PF: What is your favorite movie?

JH: 300.

PF: What is your favorite TV show?

JH: Big Bang Theory.

JH: Hanging out with friends.  We go to the beach as much as possible.

PF: Who is the best player you have ever faced?

JH: Charles Burks.

PF: What is your favorite pro sports team?

JH: Denver Broncos.

What pro football player do you most see as a role model?
