Westlake at Lake Travis
The battle for Austin is the game of week 7. The District 25-6A champion will likely be the winner of this game. Westlake started out the season with a nice win over Katy. Then star QB and Texas commit Sam Ehlinger got injured and they dropped their next game and hadn’t looked too good until last week when Ehlinger returned. Lake Travis is the opposite as they dropped their first game of the season but have been lights out since. Both teams last game was against Hays with Lake Travis winning 50-14 and Westlake winning 44-14 so at full strength the teams are evenly matched. Lake Travis has two big advantages though. One being they are at home and they other they had a bye week to prepare for this showdown. Expect it to be a high scoring game that comes down to the end. The winner will find themselves in the rankings next week.

Booker T. Washington at Miami Northwestern
Trying to determine who the best team in Miami this year has been a nightmare so far this year. This game will help decide if Miami Northwestern should stay in the discussion. Booker T. Washington has a better win than any team in consideration (St. Thomas Aquinas) but also the worst loss (Jackson). Northwestern on the other hand has a bunch of solid but not spectacular wins but by far the best loss, a 34-32 defeat to #10 American Heritage unless you count Booker T.’s preseason 27-7 win over American Heritage which really makes them a perplexing team. This game will come down to the F5 Tornadoes ability to stop the Bulls rushing attack, which they have struggled to do this year. Once again the home team is coming off a bye and that should be the difference in the game.
Northwestern 27 – Booker T. Washington 21
St. Xavier at La Salle
This game will decide the GCL South in Ohio. This game will be decided on the defensive side of the ball in what should be a low scoring affair. St. Xavier has two losses on the season but they are to #5 Colerain and #6 St. John Bosco. Some national polls have them ranked in the top 25. While we are not one of them, if they win this week and next they will be. La Salle also has two losses on the season. The Lancers offense broke out scoring 55 last week over Archbishop Moeller which will give them confidence coming into this game. They will have the home field advantage and find a way to pull off what most will consider an upset.
