Another weekend of high school football is in the books at that unfortunately only leaves us with one weekend left although its a big one. Florida and Georgia wrapped up their state playoffs and only California and Texas are left. The big upset of the weekend came out of Texas where previous #2 Allen lost to new #9 Westlake. It was the first game Allen had lost in over 3 years and they fought all the way to the end but couldn’t overcome a 20 point 4th quarter deficit. The Chaparrals will travel to Houston to take on hometown North Shore to try to bring the 6A D1 title back to Austin. In the Texas 6A D2 title game #4 Katy will face #6 Lake Travis in what could go a long way in determining the national title race. The Florida playoffs wrapped up with South Florida, Broward and Dade counties, winning the titles in the top 3 divisions. #13 St. Thomas Aquinas won the 7A title, #18 Miami Central won the 6A title and #22 Flanagan won the 8A title. In addition to the Texas title games we also have the big CIF Open Bowl Championship game this weekend between #1 Centennial and #7 De La Salle. Check back next week to see who comes out on top.
